Re: Anton Ferdinand - WHU Legend!
I notice that Millwall are disguising themselves as Sheffield Wednesday of late.

I can understand why they would pretend to be someone else if they got fed up with no-one liking them, but WTF have Wednesday done to deserve this?

I'm not a fan of this crossed hammers thing, a modern phenomenon of the G&S era, and getting new signings to do it seems cringeworthy. But I'll make an exception with Anton. Well done son.

It's not though, is it?

First person I remember do the crossed hammers thing was Craig Bellamy.

Chris Powell is the first I remember, but I'm certain others on here remember players from further back.

How we could do with Craig Bellamy now. Didn't stay for long and we doubled our money.

Re: Anton Ferdinand - WHU Legend!
I invented the crossed hammers gesture more than 30 years ago, but no one gives me any credit for it.

I agree it's a bit shit now, especially seeing adults do it.

Re: Anton Ferdinand - WHU Legend!
Tevez very famously did it when he came back with Man Utd which was well before G&S. They've just milked it to death.

Certainly wasn't as prevalent back then. Seems to have been egged on in recent times.

Without a doubt, which is why it's lost the spontaneity that it used to have.

First person I ever saw do this was a CFC MATE of mine that worked for the Postie... would shout out my name hanging out of his postie van whilst shouting out `FUCKING HAMMER' whilst doing the crossed arms.... would have been 25 years ago

I remember when Marco BOOGERS signed he posed with actual crossed hammers.

From the witch's jounal

"To display crossed arms with clenched fists is a curse giving bad luck for many many years to those who act out or are attached to".

That's it then, explain a lot of things on and off the pitch for the last +30 years or so.

Re: Anton Ferdinand - WHU Legend!
10 years ago we played a pre season against Dagenham, I got there late with my lad and it was a sell out. I rang my mates who were in the ground and they joined me in the clubhouse.
We drank all afternoon and way after the final whistle my boy said Anton was in the car park. I had a new phone with a camera, didn't have a clue how it worked but AF despite being in a rush to get away sorted it and took a photo.

For that reason he is a top man

Can remember seeing him in the crowd after we played away at Palace when we were in the Championship
He was at QPR at the time and presumably didn't have a game
